The. . . "plot". . .(pfffft):

DJ Flush is known for his groovy beats. Unfortunately said beats often contain the fabled "brown note". A note that causes some who hear it to rush off of the dance floor and onto the toilet. The more brown notes hit, the emptier the dance floor becomes. When the dance floor is completely empty, the party is over. Flush must keep the party going as long as possible by avoiding hitting the brown notes, keeping partygoers on their feet and off the seat.

How to play:

Using up and down arrow keys move the yellow cursor up and down the musical staff at the top of the screen. Notes will approach at various heights from the right-hand side of the screen. Hitting brown notes causes some dancers to leave the floor. The dance floor is your health bar. When there's no dancers left the party is over. Over time the notes will approach at a faster pace and brown notes will appear more frequently.

Your score is determined by how long you kept the dance floor alive, how many non-brown notes you hit and most notes hit between bathroom trips. i.e. the longer you go hitting only "clean" notes, the more points each note is worth.

About development:

This game was for the Stop Killing Games Community Jam 2026. I made it an afternoon out of boredom. It is not good.

Disregard of music theory:

Yes I'm aware the notes appearing on the staff don't match the notes being played and the mish mash of notes in every measure does not adhere to music theory. This decision was made for 2 reasons:

1) Using the actual notes did not make for fun gameplay and the increasing tempo caused graphical issues in pico-8 when trying to adhere to bpm above 120.

2) It's a stupid game were the dancers sh*t themselves and does not justify me spending hours to try and solve issue 1.
